Operations and Maintenance (O&M) is the broad set of activities involved in managing and <\/span>maintaining large facilities<\/span>. O&M will typically encompass an array of tasks aimed at ensuring that your physical assets are operating efficiently, continuously, and safely. Tasks may include <\/span>routine cleaning and inspection<\/span>, minor repairs, <\/span>safety and compliance<\/span> measures, <\/span>inventory and spare parts management<\/span>, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Operations and Maintenance is an inherently proactive maintenance strategy, and therefore differs from <\/span>reactive maintenance<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>corrective maintenance<\/span><\/a> models. O&M-based strategies are rooted in ongoing <\/span>upkeep<\/span> and <\/span>preventive maintenance<\/span><\/a>, and are aimed at reducing unexpected equipment failure or prolonged <\/span>downtime<\/span>. By contrast, reactive and <\/span>corrective maintenance activities<\/span> are initiated only when equipment experiences an unplanned <\/span>shutdown<\/span> or fails altogether.
