The principles behind <\/span>lean manufacturing<\/span><\/a> have their origins at Toyota. <\/span>Taiichi Ohno<\/span>\u2019s work to\u00a0 develop the <\/span>Toyota Production System<\/span> helped the auto manufacturer set itself apart from competitors in <\/span>Japan<\/span> and across the globe. In 1990, James <\/span>Womack<\/span>\u2019s book <\/span>The Machine that Changed the World<\/span><\/i> introduced Toyota\u2019s <\/span>methodology<\/span> to a wider audience<\/span><\/a> and popularized the term <\/span>lean production<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
