Today, kids see a floppy disk and think we 3D printed the \u201cSave\u201d icon. But we digress.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, we access our software via the cloud or on-site servers. Both have their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/comparesoft.com\/enterprise-asset-management-software\/eam-system-cloud-vs-on-premise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">merits and disadvantages<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> regarding how you and your employees access the necessary programs. Which option you choose is based mainly on your company\u2019s unique needs, so let\u2019s look at the two choices.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Cloud-based solutions\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cloud-based means all data isn\u2019t stored locally but rather in \u201cthe cloud.\u201d Cloud-based solutions are often referred to as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SaaS<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Software as a Service and are hosted on the vendor\u2019s servers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You don\u2019t have to physically install anything, and you can immediately access the software through a web browser or a mobile app. Generally, you pay a monthly\/yearly subscription to access and use the software.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Benefits of cloud-based solutions:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lower startup costs\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are not involved in the maintenance of the software\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data security and more regular backups<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be adjusted to fit your budget<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Disadvantages of cloud-based solutions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They can be more expensive\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Potentially impacted by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">downtime<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rely and depend on the strength of your company\u2019s internet connection\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">May not be secure enough for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalguardian.com\/blog\/saas-single-tenant-vs-multi-tenant-whats-difference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">multi-tenanted environments\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>On-premise solutions<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On-premise software has to be installed locally on the company-owned internal servers.
